Reporting to the Inventory and Logistics Manager, the Materials Supervisor, through the shipper, material handling and materials staff is responsible for the daily activities associated with receiving inbound loads of component material, accurate and timely delivery of parts to the assembly line/storage area/staging area, monitoring inventory levels, maintaining up to date material signage and shipping outbound loads of batched/sequenced commodities. 

This position has responsibility to perform all related materials tasks including the supervision of staff (both hourly and salaried) except for the reservations as defined in this document.

Hours:

  • Permanent Full-time
  • 7:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday 

Responsibilities:

  • Receiving and Storage:
    • Ensures accurate and timely receipt of loads of inbound product
    • Through the shippers, ensures receiving drivers of inbound component loads at shipping office window, directs load into plant and facilitate unload/load process
    • Ensure inbound load drivers depart post receipt of manifests and are aware of facility docking protocol (dock lock, cone policy, PPE.) 
    • Ensures received material is promptly and safely stored in designated locations
    • Check with production supervisor regularly to understand state of production and status of outbound product flow to feed the supply chain  
    • Communicate with lift truck driver during unload/reload process
    • Communicate any assignment discrepancies with lift truck operator to applicable production supervisor
    • Responsible for material handlers-scheduling, safety and corrective action as required
    • Maintain close communication with production supervisor regarding any work area materials issues
  • Inventory Management
    • Maintain integrity of inventory min/max system
    • Ensures all min/max violations are reported in accordance with the min/max procedures
  • Shipping:
    • Ensure outbound load drivers depart post receipt of manifests and are aware of facility docking protocol (dock lock, cone policy etc.)
    • Inform customers if a pending tight delivery scenario is to occur or will actually occur. A heads-up warning is mandatory to ensure preparations at the customer location for late delivery and stock out situation
    • Call for snow removal when needed
    • Call for dock and door repairs when needed
  • General Attributes of Position
    • Ensure compliance of all company policies, procedures and work instructions and take corrective action as necessary including safety statistics, cycle performance and delivery variables both internal and external
    • Accurate and timely completion of all pertinent departmental forms and documents
    • Ensure all training requirements are met by Material Handling Associates

Qualifications:

  • Post Secondary School Education
  • 2-3 years of related industry experience
  • 2 years of inventory management experience
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office365
  • Thrives working in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Creative and passionate about creating solutions to customer problems
  • Strong time management skills
