  • Performs all tasks in a safe and responsible manner
  • Reads and interprets blueprints
  • Uses gauges and measuring instruments to meet tolerance requirements
  • Uses precision tools, machinery and equipment such as lathe, vertical milling machine, drill press, hydraulic press, chop saw, band saw, push and pull broaches and a variety of cutting tools and equipment
  • Fabricates and shapes parts such as tools and machine parts out of metal, plastics and composites
  • Properly and safely selects, aligns, secures and removes holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials onto machines
  • Recognizes, deploys and properly uses inserts, fixtures and tooling
  • Ability to create/adjust/close work orders in the Shop Edge System
  • Complies with all quality policies, specifications, safety and environmental rules regulations and instructions
  • Ensure that all machining at Canada Stampings Ltd. is performed in the most timely and efficient manner and is of the highest quality
  • Work to tool room schedule to accomplish die maintenance, rebuilding or other machining requirements
  • Help ensure that the Tool Room Department & equipment are kept clean and properly maintained through 5S+1 Program while ensuring all daily/weekly audits and inspections are complete
  • Records information and maintains toolroom records either manually or on computer
  • Record all tooling service on ARDPRR sheets or other supplementary service records
  • Provide positive input in a team-oriented work environment
  • Performs other related duties as required


  • Possesses Certificate of Qualification
  • General Machinist with 5+ years’ experience on large or small conventional mills & lathes, radial arm drills, surface grinders & CNC (Milling or Lathe)
  • Proficient in blue print reading and GDT
  • Ability to TIG & MIG weld an asset


  • Under the general direction of the Tool Room Supervisor General Machinist performs a variety of tasks, working from verbal/written instructions/drawings
  • The General Machinist is exposed to elements such as noise/temperature
  • The incumbent generally provides their own hand tools as necessary to perform duties.
